--------------------------------------------- PLANET ANOMALY UPDATE 2005 #0-2 (issued 21-May, 8:10 UT) --------------------------------------------- Cusp passage in progress Dear Colleagues, PLANET data collected with the Canopus 1.0m near Hobart show that the expected cusp passage started around HJD=2453511.1 (20-May, 14:30 UT). Data obtained with the Danish 1.54m at ESO LaSilla taken from HJD=2453511.628 (21-May, 3:05 UT) confirm this interpretation and show that the caustic passage is in progress, where it still might take up to 24 hrs until the peak is reached, roughly in agreement with the prediction of our latest model for a point-like source calculated before the caustic passage started. The theoretical light curve for this model is shown on our webpage together with our latest data. The cusp passage will provide us with an accurate measurement of the source size parameter that will allow to obtain a reliable prediction of expected further fold-caustic passages, where most recent estimates for the time when the source centre passes were HJD=2453526.8 (5-Jun, 7:00 UT) and HJD=2453530.5 (9-Jun, 0:00 UT). Event: OGLE 2005-BLG-018 RA (J2000): 17:51:23.53 Dec (J2000): -29:39:27.8 The baseline I magnitude reported by the OGLE team is 15.532. -------------- On behalf of the PLANET collaboration Martin Dominik %%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%% If you prefer not to receive further PLANET Anomaly Alerts, please send an e-mail to planet@iap.fr.
