--------------------------------------------- PLANET ANOMALY ALERT 2004 #15 (issued 16-Aug, 16:05 UT) --------------------------------------------- OGLE 2004-BLG-482 rising to high magnification Dear Colleagues, Latest PLANET data obtained at the Canopus telescope in Hobart, indicate that OB-04-482 is a potential extreme high amplification event, current best single lens (point source) model predicts an A_max ~ 140 within next 24h. An alternative explanation could be a cusp approach of an ordinary binary. In anycase it is likely that finite source effects could be observed and the favorable brightness (at base I=14.10 mag, now >~ 12 mag) makes this target also a good candidate for spectroscopic/multiband measurements. Intense observations are strongly encouraged, reminding the observers to adjust exposure times properly to avoid saturation.
